LM7 and L59 updated 5-27-09

These are cast iron blocks based on GEN 3 design. They should be really reasonable priced. There is not going to be a high demand for these in the aftermarket. There's not alot of money to be saved however in getting one these opposed to the L33.

My basic thought here is, if you are going to run a cast iron block with the aluminum heads, you might as well have the LQ4 or LQ9 engine instead. LQ4 at 300HP, and the LQ9 is 345HP.

How would this one compare to the 3800SC install? Power to weight ratio is going to be the different. Then money. If the 5.3 cast iron is 295HP, and we have to make the 3800SC 295HP, the difference in cost is about $2000. The difference in weight is going to be about 65 pounds.
